The Night in the Orchard
The orchard sleeps beneath the stars,
Graveyards lie silent—
Not even a whisper of wings.
Then,
Thunder cracks the sky,
Shakes the clouds from their slumber.
Rain kisses the earth,
Lightning ignites the dark,
And as it fades, a soft wind stirs.
That wind,
It carries stories from the graves—
Of a nation,
Torn apart in war,
Lives taken,
Shot, stabbed, slaughtered.
Their names erased,
Their homes swept away,
In the name of power,
In defiance of humanity,
And its lost morality.
The world stood blind.
How does it stay calm?
The trees sway in the orchard,
As if to hush the storm.
A world that betrayed its soul.
Humanity, sold for selfish gain,
Now lies dead.
Is there a remnant left?
Will it return?
Love abandoned in the hearts of men,
The world drifts further,
Unwilling to believe again.
Once beautiful—
No more.
The graveyards settle,
Perhaps at peace.
More peace than life ever gave.
Their tortured souls now still.
The world,
And its graves,
Shout silent stories,
Of a broken world,
Of human beings,
Who failed.
