In a school, a lecture is going on in a 4th class. The ma'am is writing something on the board, and the children, unable to see what's written due to standing in front of the board, are peeking into each other's copies and leaning here and there to copy from the board into their notebooks. The lecture ends, and the bell rings for the next period. A 9-year-old boy, Aarav, is quickly copying what is written on the board into his notebook. Meanwhile, the ma'am for the next class enters, and all the children stand up and say "Good morning" to her. The ma'am greets them back and asks them to sit down, then instructs a student to clean the board. Hearing this, Aarav starts writing even faster, but another child in the front tells the ma'am that he hasn’t finished copying yet. The ma'am scolds him, saying, "Were you sleeping all this time?" The child remains silent, and the board is cleaned, leaving a few lines incomplete in Aarav's notebook. Aarav asks his friend sitting next to him to lend his notebook so he can finish copying the remaining lines, but due to the start of the next lecture, his friend asks him to do it later. The ma'am instructs everyone to take out their books and open Chapter 5. She then asks a girl, who is the fastest reader, to start reading. All the girls begin reading Chapter 5, following along with their fingers. Aarav’s bag, which was placed on the side, falls off the bench. He picks it up and places it back on the bench. When he looks at his book, he is unable to find the line where the fast-reading girl is, so he looks at the finger of the child sitting next to him to locate the correct line. The ma'am notices this and stops the fast-reading girl, asking Aarav to stand up. She comes to him and says, "You continue reading the next line." Due to the mismatched lines, Aarav starts reading the wrong line. The ma'am gets angry and begins to scold him, yelling, "Where is your attention? When your parents come to pick you up, don't leave without meeting me, or else I won’t let you attend the lecture tomorrow." The ma'am then asks the fast-reading girl to continue reading. When Aarav’s parents come to take him home, Aarav tells them that they need to meet his ma'am. Upon hearing this, Aarav's father becomes very angry, but Aarav's mother calms him down and takes him to meet the ma'am. The ma'am complains about Aarav's lack of attention in class. Meanwhile, another of Aarav’s teachers arrives and also complains to his parents about Aarav not paying attention to his studies. Aarav's parents tell the ma'am that if they feel Aarav isn’t paying attention in class, then she should focus a bit more on him. The ma'am responds by saying that Aarav isn’t the only child in the class; she has to pay attention to everyone. She further adds, "It’s not just our responsibility; you also need to be attentive. The other students in the class are studying well, and if this continues, I’m sorry, but your child will fall far behind in life." Hearing this, Aarav's parents scold him all the way home and later that night, they arrange a meeting at their home with some friends to discuss Aarav's studies.
At night, during the meeting, Aarav is sitting in his chair with his head down, feeling sad, while his parents and some of their friends are discussing the complaints they received from school. During the discussion, Aarav's parents, along with their friends, come to the conclusion that Aarav might be mentally weak and not very smart, so he needs extra classes. They all decide that in addition to school and home studies, extra coaching is necessary. Aarav's parents, along with their friends, decide to stop him from playing, believing that all this playing around is distracting him from his studies. Aarav feels very sad and cries at night because his parents have restricted his playtime and because of the hurtful words they said. When Aarav's mother tries to comfort him, his father stops her and says, "If we are not strict, Aarav’s future will be ruined."The next day, during a lecture, the principal comes into Aarav's class and makes an announcement that their history teacher has been changed, and in the next lecture, a new teacher will come to teach them. After the principal leaves and the bell rings signaling the end of the lecture, Aarav and all the students wonder who the new teacher will be, thinking about how strict the previous one was. Just then, a 27-year-old man named Vaibhav enters the class, wearing a sherwani, and acts out a scene while telling them a story like Emperor Shah Jahan. Aarav and all the students are very happy and enjoy the story and the performance. After the story ends, Vaibhav returns to his normal self and introduces himself to the class, saying that he is their new history teacher. All the students tell him, "Sir, the whole lecture today went by in your act and story, but we didn’t study anything." Vaibhav replies, "Yes, you did! The story I acted out was your Chapter 3." He adds, "Today, we understood the story through an act, and tomorrow we’ll learn even more lessons from it."During Vaibhav’s lecture, Aarav and all the students were completely focused on his act and words, and they understood the story very well. After the lecture ends, a student asks Vaibhav, "Sir, which chapter will you act out next?" Vaibhav jokingly replies, "The one where Mumtaz isn’t involved." He then smiles, says goodbye to everyone, and leaves the class. After the lecture, when Vaibhav is sitting in a room with the other teachers, they comment on his teaching methods, saying, "Is studying supposed to be a joke? Discipline is very important in education." In response, Vaibhav says, "Interest in studying is more important. I do all this so that the students become interested in learning. Once they are interested, discipline will follow naturally."The other teachers feel that Vaibhav is criticizing their teaching methods. They say to him, "So, should we start telling jokes while teaching now? We are teachers, not entertainers." Vaibhav replies, "It’s not about entertainment. Until I can connect with the students, I won’t be able to make them understand what I’m trying to teach. Otherwise, I’ll be left with only one option—what every teacher does today: either by scolding or instilling fear of the future, forcing students to understand."Angry at Vaibhav's remarks, the teachers challenge him, saying, "If you think your childish way of teaching will make your class students come first, then forget the whole class; let’s see about Aarav, who is the weakest in studies. If you think you can make students learn through jokes and fun, then teach Aarav alone, not the entire class. We will adjust the schedule so you can teach history to the rest of the students too. If Aarav comes first in class, we all promise to teach our students the way you suggest. But if Aarav doesn’t come first, you’ll have to accept that you don’t know how to teach."
Vaibhav accepts the teachers' challenge, and they all approach the principal for permission. At first, the principal refuses, but after Vaibhav insists, he agrees. After accepting the challenge, when Vaibhav goes to meet Aarav, he finds out that Aarav has already left for home. When Vaibhav asks Aarav’s friends about him, they tell him that Aarav is under a lot of pressure at home due to complaints and poor marks, which is why he has been very quiet lately. Vaibhav asks for Aarav’s home address, and one of the students tells him, "I know where he lives, but you’ll only be able to meet him tomorrow, on Sunday."Vaibhav asks, "Why?" The student replies, "Because after studying at home, his parents are also sending him to coaching classes. He comes home late at night, but tomorrow is Sunday, so you’ll definitely be able to meet him." Vaibhav then makes a plan to visit Aarav’s house the next day. When Vaibhav goes to Aarav’s house and Aarav’s mother opens the gate, Vaibhav tells her that he is Aarav’s teacher from school. As Vaibhav enters the house, he sees that Aarav is studying, and his father is sitting in front of him. When Vaibhav says, “Today is Sunday, why is Aarav studying so much? He should go downstairs and play,” Aarav’s father replies, “I’m seeing a teacher for the first time who is telling a child to stop studying and go play.”

Vaibhav requests Aarav to go to another room and then says to his father, “What do you think, how many hours does Aarav need to study to get good marks?” Aarav’s father replies, “As many hours as possible. You must already know about his report.” Vaibhav responds, “Yes, I know.” Aarav’s father adds, “If he doesn’t feel the pressure of studies, how will he understand his responsibilities?”Vaibhav asks, “Have you ever tried to understand why your child is not studying?” Aarav’s father says, “What’s there to understand? His school teachers have said he doesn’t pay attention. Other kids in the class are studying well.” Vaibhav replies, “This means you haven’t yet understood your child’s struggles.”Aarav’s father says, “What struggles? He gets everything he needs on time—every book and notebook. We provide everything he asks for.” Vaibhav explains, “Simply giving him books and notebooks on time doesn’t solve all his problems. Children face various other pressures that we, as parents and teachers, need to understand and help them overcome, rather than ignoring their issues by comparing them to other children. You’ve heard from his teacher that he doesn’t pay attention, but have you ever lovingly asked your child what his problem is? But no, you’re more concerned about your insult, about what the teacher said. Now, as parents, to satisfy your ego, you’re putting even more pressure on the child, even if he can’t bear it, even if he might end up committing suicide under pressure.

Every child has their own learning pattern. Some grasp things in one go, while others take more time, but that doesn’t mean anyone can call them smart or foolish based on that. I’ve understood Aarav’s learning pattern. I told him a story while acting as Shah Jahan, and he listened with full attention and focus, and he understood it too.”Vaibhav opens Aarav’s history book to Chapter 3 and hands it to Aarav’s father, saying, “If you don’t believe me, ask Aarav about this chapter yourself.” When Aarav’s father asks him questions about Shah Jahan and the chapter, Aarav, with great excitement, answers all the questions correctly. Aarav’s father becomes emotional and hugs his son, giving Vaibhav permission to teach Aarav.Vaibhav then takes Aarav outside to play cricket, using it as an opportunity to bond with him and get to know him better. While playing, Vaibhav understands more about Aarav and begins teaching him in different ways without applying pressure. Aarav, with full focus and dedication, starts to grasp all subjects. Meanwhile, the other teachers become stricter about studies. When the final exams take place, the papers are checked by other teachers to ensure an unbiased decision. On the day of the results, all the teachers believe that their students will come first with good marks. However, when the results are announced, all the teachers are shocked because Aarav comes first in the entire class.

When Aarav is declared first, Vaibhav comes on stage and says, “I didn’t want to show any teacher down. I just wanted to ensure that studies don’t become a burden or pressure for the children. Studies should be something that ignites a desire to learn, not a competition to defeat others.”In the end, all the teachers support Vaibhav and start making learning simpler and more interesting for the students.
